Property values rise in Canyon County
Thursday 22 May 2008
Despite an overall slowdown in the US housing market, the assessed value of properties in Canyon County has risen sharply in 2008.
The chief deputy assessor of Canyon County, Joe Cox, said the rise in areas such as Melba was as a result of buyers being tempted to invest in newer properties with good views that had come on the market.
Mr Cox urged caution however as he warned that property values are constantly changing in line with consumer trends and suggested that some homes may still be catching up to market values.
According to assessments for the first quarter of 2008, there was a 96 per cent rise in the median assessed value in Melba, whilst Northeast Caldwell saw a 50 per cent increase and South Nampa and Middleton both saw an increase of 33 per cent.
Canyon County is located in the US state of Idaho. Established in 1891, the county seat is Caldwell and Nampa is its largest city.
