Operator announces plans for most expensive casino resort

Wednesday 21 May 2008

A casino operator announced plans yesterday (May 20th) to develop what will become the most expensive casino resort in the state of Nevada.

Station Casinos said the Las Vegas project will consist of at least three casinos and three hotels with as many as 10,000 rooms.

Lorenzo Fertitta, president of Station Casinos, said: "As we started looking at the site, originally we were talking about one hotel-casino. But, as we got more property we decided we have the ability to put multiple properties on there and create a whole development."

The complex, Viva, will be built on a huge 110-acre parcel of land and will cost $2 to $10 billion more than the first mega resort built, the MGM Mirage.

Tourism, gaming and conventions are the primary drivers of the economy in Las Vegas and the population is growing rapidly making it a great property investment prospect.

In December, 2007, Clark County officially declared that the population of Las Vegas exceeded two million. Current estimates place growth at three million people by 2019, and four million people by 2025.ADNFCR-1590-ID-18603370-ADNFCR
