NYC 'vibrant' summer destination
Tuesday 20 May 2008
New York City is a "vibrant" destination for tourists in the summer, offering warm weather, "stylish rooftop spots" and great value for money, an industry expert has said.
Although traditionally viewed as a popular destination for winter shopping breaks, New York is, according to the city's official tourism organisation, NYC & Company, a great place to visit in the summer months.
George Fertitta, chief executive of NYC & Company, explained that traditionally unpopular areas have now become fashionable and describes Queens as a "top cultural destination".
Mr Fertitta, said: "Fantastic restaurants can be found throughout Manhattan, as well as the other boroughs Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island which are also renowned for offering terrific value for money."
The Brooklyn bridge celebrates its 125th anniversary this year and events such as dance performances and concerts will take place from May 22nd to May 26th.
The UK is currently New York's top tourist market. Well over one million Britons visited the city in 2006 which is good news for anyone considering investing in property in the US.
