New owner hopes to create 'one of the finest small hotels in North America'
Tuesday 17 June 2008
A hotel in Canada which has been a family-run business for four generations is to get a new owner.
Canada.com today (June 17th) reported that Franklin Folts hopes to make Rideau Canal inn, Jones Falls "one of the finest small hotels in North America".
The current owner has a vested interest in the property's new manager as he was born at the hotel and says: "My soul is here".
Mr Folts bought the property at auction late last year and the auctioneers at the time commented on his decision not to make any major structural changes to the property.
Auctioneers said: "Having a personal history with the Hotel Kenney, he (Folts) uniquely appreciates the intrinsic value and historical significance of the property".
An increase in recreational homes for sale and a drop in property prices are, according to the Remax Recreational Property report, creating "more balanced market conditions" which are "a welcome change for purchasers".
