Caribbean shows commitment to climate change

Central American and Caribbean nations have joined together to discuss how to tackle climate change and to request the support of the international community.
Summit Commitment to Global Environment took place yesterday (May, 28th) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras with each nation committing to reducing green house emissions.
According to nations that signed the declaration it "forms the base for effectively reducing the impact of this global phenomenon".
Each country that participated in the summit agreed to make climate change a priority in their national development plans.
Summit attendees discussed policies to reverse pollution and the strategic and operational measures necessary to make improvements.
The geography and climate in the Caribbean region varies depending on the area. Some islands in the region such as the Bahamas and Barbados have quite flat terrain.
Meanwhile areas such as Jamaica and Saint Lucia have dramatic mountain ranges and the islands enjoy a tropical climate. The country also has a large native marine habitat that is protected.
