Caribbean hosts spa retreat for celebrity mums
Thursday 15 May 2008
Two top Caribbean destinations are going to be host to a spa retreat for celebrity mums, CaribPR reports.
Wander Fisher, founder of the Caribbean Association of Wellness and Spas, is hosting the event with Derede Whitlock-Samuels, director of tourism USA, Antigua and Barbuda.
Ms Fisher and Ms Whitlock-Samuels hope the event will establish Antigua and Barbuda as the entertainment centre of the eastern Caribbean and will create stronger ties with support groups in the US.
Ms Fisher explained: "We hope to attract the attention of the celebrity mom's children and the media to address some of the critical issues that families face today."
Singer-songwriter Alicia Keys is already signed up to participate in the Annual Celebrity Mom event, along with Ludacris and Mos Def.
The organisers hope that the Caribbean's peaceful and natural setting will provide a much needed retreat for those in the industry.
Ms Fisher went on to say that she recognised artists and executives in the industry were suffering from stress caused by the need to constantly please people in addition to the pressure to be perfect.
The Caribbean islands are classified as one of Conservation International's biodiversity hotspots because they support exceptionally diverse ecosystems, ranging from cloud forests to cactus scrublands.
