Caribbean gets improved flight access
Wednesday 21 May 2008
A new flight from the UK to Roseau, the capital of Dominica in the Caribbean, will cut journey times by an hour.
The improved flight access was announced yesterday (May 21st) and will take effect from Monday May 26th.
It is hoped the new flight will help to build on the growth in tourism the area has been experiencing since Pirates of the Caribbean two was filmed there.
Since the film's release two years ago, the number of Britains visiting Roseau has risen by nearly 12 per cent.
Travellers will now be able to fly from the UK to Roseau with Carib Aviation. The flight will go via St Lucia.
Previously the only way to get from the UK to the capital of the Dominica was to fly to Antigua and then drive the one and a half hour route to Roseau.
Roseau is the largest and oldest city of Dominic and was built on the site of the ancient Kalinago Indian village of Sairi.
