Cape Verde to link Chinese and Portuguese-speaking countries

Cape Verde has announced plans to become the strategic link between Chinese and Portuguese-speaking countries.
Speaking at the fourth meeting of businesspeople for economic and trade cooperation on May 29th, Jose Brito, the economy minister said he wanted to concentrate efforts on cargo and passenger transport links.
Mr Brito cited the recent handling deal between Cape Verde's national airline (TACV) and Air China's Latin American routes as a good example of the benefits of closer links.
According to Afrol News, Alexandre Fontes, chairman of cabo verde investments (CVI), applauded the government's "plans to develop the private sector [and] encourage and promote foreign investment".
Mr Fontas spoke at the conference of Cape Verde's "political and economic stability" and of its important geographical location and productive labour force.
The Republic of Cape Verde is located on an archipelago in the Macaronesia ecoregion of the North Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of Africa.
