$55 million investment in Colorado tourist resort
Thursday 12 June 2008
Tourism in Colorado will receive a boost after one of the area's largest resort's announced plans to undertake a $55 million restructuring project.
Established in 1918, the Broadmoor hotel and resort has launched a project to renovate its 150-room west building and relay the adjoining golf course.
The resort is recognised by the tourism industry as one of the best. AAA awarded five diamonds to the Broadmoor, a rating bestowed on only a handful of properties in the US, and Mobil Travel Guide gave it five stars.
Commenting on the project, Steve Bartolin, hotel president, said: "When we make decisions like this, we don't weigh it on five stars. What we do is look at quality and constant improvement, we look at what matters to our guests, we look at what our competitors are doing. We just always want to stay ahead of the curve."
The Broadmoor spans 3,000 acres in the southwest Colorado Springs and is owned by the Oklahoma Publishing Co. of Oklahoma City.
