Luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton has announced that it is to open three new properties in the Caribbean.
It is expected that the hotels will be completed in the next three years to deal with demand for holidays in the idyllic area, the Jamaica Gleaner reported.
The development will start with a £253 million resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands in 2009.
The resort is expected to include a wildlife sanctuary, two national parks and cultural and archaeological sites.
Other developments will be erected in the Bahamas, The Dominican Republic and St Lucia, popular resorts with foreign property investors.
Ezzat Coutry, a senior vice-president of the hotel group, told the Gleaner that the company is focusing on the Caribbean because of the great business prospects the region offers.
Ritz-Carlton currently owns 70 properties that are located in a number of major cities and exclusive resort destinations worldwide.
The firm's interest in the Caribbean is indicative of its popularity as a tourist resort, great news for investors who rent out holiday homes in the region. |
