Moroccan homeowners advised to check insurance

Holiday home owners with interests in Morocco have been urged to ensure that any personal goods they leave in the country are covered by their home insurance provider.

According to the AA, it is worth extending a British home contents insurance policy to cover personal property anywhere in the world, particularly for people who only occasionally travel abroad.

Ian Crowder, public relations manager for the AA, explained: "If you do lose your camera while you're out there or your cases? then you can claim on your UK home insurance policy.

"The other advantage is that if you are taking out travel insurance, you don't need to include the baggage element because that is covered with your home insurance."

With the added reassurance of knowing that their personal property is protected overseas, more people might be interested in purchasing a house overseas.

According to a recent study by Zurich Private Clients, the average holiday home contains valuables worth approximately £15,200.
