Location 'important' for those looking to invest in Spanish property

Investors looking to buy property in Spain should see location as their number one priority, an expert has advised.

The Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG) has said that investors need to consult a lawyer to get the best advice before going ahead with their purchase.

Paul Bradley, spokesperson for SPOG said that those that are planning to invest in a property in the hope of living there should look at the mainland rather than Spain's surrounding Balearic Islands.

Mr Bradley explained: "For me, the islands are great places to visit – even for a few months a year."

He continued: "For a permanent home, the mainland is much better."

According to Parmdeep Vadesh of the American Chronical, Spain is "on top of every European property buyer's list" because of the country's "welcome respite from the bleak London weather with its pristine white beaches and awe-inspiring mountains, beautiful scenery, good food, fantastic weather and warm people".

Mr Vadesh explained that good transport links make it a popular destination for leisure as much as for business travellers, which is great news for anyone considering investing in property there.
